What a synopsis is for
A synopsis tells an agent or editor what happens in your book, from the first chapter to the last. It shows that the plot holds together and that the ending pays off what the opening promised.
It isn't a blurb. A blurb sells the book to readers and hides the ending. A synopsis is a working document for the agent, and it gives the ending away.
How the generator writes it
It follows the conventions agents expect, so you can spend your time on the story rather than the format.
- Third person and present tense, whoever narrates the book.
- The main plot in order, through its turning points to the ending.
- Each character's name in capitals the first time it appears, and only the characters the plot needs.
- Plain, specific sentences, kept to about one page.
Make the draft yours
Treat the result as a first draft. The generator only knows what you told it, so check that every event is right and fill in anything in square brackets.
Then read the agent's guidelines. Some ask for one page, some for two, and some for none at all, so trim or expand the draft to fit.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Is the synopsis generator free?
Yes, with no signup. Free tools share a fair-use limit of 6 runs every 12 hours.
Does a synopsis give away the ending?
Yes. An agent reads a synopsis to see whether the whole story works, so it tells the ending plainly. That's why the generator asks for it.
How long should a synopsis be?
It depends on the agent, so check their guidelines. The generator aims for about one page, which is a common request and is easier to expand than to cut.
Is my story stored or used for training?
No. Your answers are sent to our AI provider to produce the draft and aren't saved by StoryWith AI. We don't use them to train AI models.
Will it invent plot I didn't give it?
It's told not to. Where something seems to be missing for the story to follow, it leaves a placeholder in square brackets for you to fill in.
Can I write my synopsis in another language?
Yes. Answer in the language of your book, and the draft comes back in that language.
